Interesting and Challenging Model

I recently purchased the WS-15 Turbofan Engine from my friends at enginediy. The model came packed in a compact cardboard box and arrived in good order. On opening the box, you see two QR codes. One of them points to the assembly instructions and the other to a video of one of these being assembled. Looking at the Internet, you will discover another video by KOTA also assembling this model. NOTE: You need to watch the videos carefully many times to understand how the model goes together. There is no parts list for this model, which is a pity. As I started to assemble the model, I got stuck at step 1, because there was a duplicate of one part and another missing part.

I contacted my friends at enginediy and they sent me the replacement part quickly. Thank you! The second attempt of assembly progressed well with the new part. Several times during the assembly process, I had to tear down what I had done, because I had installed a component backwards. I actually don't mind this, because it is all part of the learning process, making the model a real challenge to build. I have to say that the instructions could be clearer and a components list would be invaluable. It appears that the components are printed with a 3D printer - amazing! I had a real sense of achievement when I clicked the power switch the first time, the model sprang into lifeand functioned as expected.

If you like a challenge and like to build engine models, I thoroughly recommend this model. I owe a big thank you to enginediy for their excellent after-sales service. Recommended.

Nice model, poor instructions

We purchased two of these for our sons. The model itself is very cool once assembled - emphasis on "once assembled". The instructions, unfortunately, are lacking. First, it seems like either the instructions are generic and used for a range of different engine models, and therefor not entirely correct for any of the models they're used for, or the instructions have not been updated to match revisions that have been made to the model. Either way, assembly required a fair amount of guessing and assumptions along the way. Second, the instructions fail to follow some basic good design practices. For example, there's no parts list, nor are there diagrams of the parts. So, references like "use the small bearing" are used throughout which is not helpful when there are bearings that are close in size. Finally, there were a lot of leftover parts at the end which, when combined with the poor instructions, raised concern that we had not built it correctly. I'm not talking a handful of screws, We're talking lots of screws, bearings, and other items. There are a lot of cost reduction opportunities for the manufacturer of these kits.

Amazing model engine

I love the turbine engine I have. I asked my wife to get me a turbofan model for my birthday. I wish the on/off switch was on the side and not the bottom though.

Almost a five but not quite

First thing on opening the box was the QR code was incorrect and for a different model. The parts felt very rough and had to be sanded. The parts in the iyoutube videos looked much better quality.
Everything was well packed . I also had to shim up the LP. Rotors to eliminate a lot of free play. I am still building the at the moment
