from 2355 reviewsI haven't assembled the scorpion because I bought it as a gift. I did open the box to inspect and found that the parts are all nicely packaged and organized. The instructions also look easy to follow. Oddly enough there are no pictures of the assembled scorpion on the box, but the photos on the website are excellent and should work well for consulting while building the model.
This was my first kit from engineDIY, I have purchased this one because I wanted a Hit & Miss engine model that function like the real thing, and also have scale looks to it and not the same square form that other engine models have.
I decided on the KIT, so that I can enjoy the building experience, and also learn how everything is put together and how it works, as an introduction into the hobby.
The kit was shipped quickly, and very well packed, everything arrived in one piece.
As for the kit it self and the parts, the machined parts are impeccable (only paint issues, but not many), all parts fit together very good, including the fine parts which need very low tolerances fit nicely and my fears of having a delicate part not fit went away quickly. most painted parts were very nicely painted with a few very small occational scuffs
What I would suggest - build the kit when you have time and are stress-free, take your time, don't rush (especially with fine threads), and pay attention to the conical brass sleeves of the fly wheels - do not tighten them until the fly wheels are set in their final position as once those are tighten you can not remove those without damage to the parts. also follow the instruction booklet don't skip steps or mix them up, I took the exact steps from the manual (what some you YT do not do) and found it was a smooth ride, as almost everything is very thought out.
I have finished the engine it self, I still have the ignition kit to assemble, but that will be no problem.
My overall experience is pure joy.
My only critic, is that the instructions do not contain the warning in regarding to the fly wheel conical brass inserts, to make sure people avoid tightening them immaturely and having massive issues (thankfully I have seen the warning in a YT video) also could be nice if the first page in the instruction would clearly list the tools and oils required for the assembly, another small critic is on the "old version" crankshaft there are four edges that are sharp and should have been beveled out to avoid people cutting them self while assembling it.
Overall impressed, great value, I am a pretty critical person and I am telling you, this kit is worth it.
Ir was a great gift for and aeroplane enthusiast. Packaging was great too and the 3d printed parts on the expected quality. Time will prove its durability l.
es it's BIG and complex with 600+ all metal parts beautifully made. Just the best desktop action cutaway jet engine model you can get. Special thanks to the team at TECHING for amazing clear and thorough instructions in the BIG booklet with the color phots and the design and build discussions, info about the prototype engine...done with passion about their subject. My first time building a kit like this but if you take your time and use the excellent tools supplied you'll get there and very satisfying to create what is probably a museum quality display-but wait! lights, sound, ACTION and exhaust vapor! A real 5 stars from me Yes I had problems getting it to turn smoothly too but found the parts that were touching and fixed the problem One solution I used was to bore out the main shaft bearing carriers so they weren't so snug, as the tiniest variation in the shaft will cause stiffness. Also, some fans needed skimming so they didn't rub the neighbouring parts.
I haven’t completed my hit & Miss engine, but looking at what I purchased, it will do the job.
Once engine completed I will likely purchase more of 5he same product
I have built several small engines, including the Howell V-4 from bar stock. This engine is unlike any of them took me about a month to assemble. I took my time and it starts instantly every time and it sounds like a NASCAR motor. It is unbelievable to hear.
The quality of this kit is nothing short of amazing I have never seen this level of machining ever.
The packaging was equally impressive. I can’t think of one thing I would’ve changed on the kit with the exception being perhaps the manual. I would like to have much more information that that it contains.
The value of this kit is also noteworthy and is well worth the price.
I put a deposit on the transmission that’s in the works I guess and I definitely will build more of these engines in the future.
One last thing… The service and product support are great, specifically I’d like to thank Lucas for helping me through some of my questions.
I very recently built this turbofan engine and have done a complete build review and video. Check out my link:

Wykonanie urządzenia jest z wykorzystaniem najnowszej techniki, widok jest przyjemnością dla oka. Urządzenie oczywiście działa.
The Steam plant with horizontal mill engine driving a dynamo brought
beautifully to life. I appreciated the ease of build, with mostly assemble
bits going together exactly. No sealing, soldering, measuring, adjusting, it
all just went together and worked. As I examined the parts and understood
the design I silently thanked the designers who did their job well. A great
product at a great price, for teens and adults with basic skills...all tools
supplied. As a kid, this is what I wanted, not a single acting oscillating
engine...I wanted a double acting, slide valve, Stephenson's reversing,
working drain cocks, water level sight glass, regulator, whistle, scale
dynamo and solid brass streetlamp that is BRIGHT. Much work has gone in to
produce this gem. Well done :) 5 stars. Full build on my channel and this

This larger radiator combined with a fan shroud should help keep the Toyan L400g from overheating. This radiator is of excellent quality and size, and has a divider in the top tank to ensure the water flows through the core of the radiator. The shroud will ensure the fan sucks air through the radiator core. I’m hoping for good results with this setup.
I recommend using shipping protection insurance as supplied by the seller, it’s very cheap and gives you protection against something happening during transportation, as you never know what may happen.
I have not assembled it yet, because I am waiting for a few more items. Right now I am just enjoying looking at the parts because the machine work is just incredible. You really have to see these things in person to appreciate the workmanship. Laying out the parts in a glass cabinet would make a super display. Their company is also excellent to do business with and are very professional and follow through with any questions or problems............
It works.
I didn't need it, but I'm always happy to be on the safe side
Nice functional "toy" based on Sterling engine principle. Easy completation in couple of minutes. Working from the box, just to fill the candle with some alcohol and light it up.
