I quite enjoyed building this, and was impressed with how the parts were presented and that the instructions were fairly easy for me to follow. There was one hex wrench that I didn’t use, and I thought it could use some locking tweezers, but those were my only big critiques. Well, maybe magnetized tools, but that’s easy to fix with the proper accessory (which I already had). If you like dinos, & you like building kits, then this is a fun one.
I ordered several of these to give my granddaughters (9 and 12) for Christmas. We have been building them slowly in 20 Minuit sessions. The parts are well made and the instruction images are very clear. Some of the screws, nuts and spacer tubes are very small and it is difficult to get the parts aligned and the fasteners installed. But by doing the process one page at a stretch, we are managing. We have learned to start with a screw and use that to align and guide the parts together before adding the nut. Starting from the nut side does not go well. Some parts look identical except for thickness or diameter of holes. After each step we have learned to check the assembly carefully comparing it to the illustration to be sure all the parts and screws are in the correct position. It is best to leave the fasteners in the bags and take them out only as needed. The instruction diagrams show what fasteners are needed for each joint and the bags are labeled with the same. There are often two or more different size fasteners in each bag. We found it useful to have a metric ruler to distinguish between the fasteners. Tweezers and a magnifier may also be useful. By taking it slowly, we are enjoying this project.
