I am really happy with my purchased on my Rovan blue special edition buggy I would like to give a 5-star rating to the product
Awesome little steam engine !! Have to adjust the flame to make sure it doesn't go to fast and rattle all over but works great.
I bought this based largely on other reviews. I understand why others are so enthusiastic. The unit looks beautiful and functions just as well. I bought it as a teaching tool for my science classes. You’ll never see teenagers stare in total awe like they do with this.
This 4 cylinder Stirling engine is lots of fun to play with. Build quality and performance are excellent.
I got this engine for my son super go quad and it fits and works perfect. It took about 2weeks to get here from China, but it was worth the way, and easy to install
We used this model as part of our homeschool curriculum. It was built by a 12 year old student mostly. You do need two sets of hands for some of the steps. At least it helps. We've also done four and two stroke models of engines.
Overall, this was a super fun and informative process. The instructions and pieces are all well done and easy to use. The overall construction process went well. The final product is impressive and really representative of a turbofan engine.
There are two reasons we can't go Five Star. The main reason: a faulty external drive belt renders the model immobile. The model is designed to be driven by a clear rubber external fan belt that spins the fans. Our drive belt was poorly manufactured, and has a section that is almost double in size what it should be, and every rotation it gets all caught up and the engine stops. You have to manually turn the engine to keep it moving, which kind of takes away the whole point.
The second reason: the super annoying noise. I (kind of) get the logic of including a noise similar to that of jet engines in the model. But it can't be turned off, and so any time the model is on, it is wailing like a banshee. And the noise is a hollow, high-pitched attempt at replicating a jet engine noise; it sounds more like minions sent from a Japanese horror movie than a nice jet engine roar. It's really, really off-putting.
Overall, we really enjoyed the process and the model, and we learned a ton about how turbofan jet engines function. A solid product that we'd recommend to homeschoolers and aviation fans alike. Thanks!
I truly enjoyed building this engine with my 8-year-old son. The English directions contained on a thumb drive made it easy to build. The castings are very good. Each part is precision made. The accuracy is good. Next to building a running engine, this is a fantastic project for young and old. It can be disassembled and built back up. Or you can just keep it on display. I highly recommend this project motor. You will not be disappointed. One thing I did was to use 3-in-1 oil for lubrication. The supplied lubricant was minimal and not very effective in my opinion. Take your time. You won't regret this purchase.
As the wife of a mechanic who is sick and tired of trying to find gifts that aren’t stupid, BUY THIS for the mechanic in your life. For all the times I’ve googled “what to buy a mechanic” and gotten answers like, this wrench set or car cleaning chemicals, I wish I would have found this company sooner. It was a ton of fun to build, is superbly detailed, and a great novelty item. My husband loves it, thinks it’s the coolest thing, and loves to show it off. He even took it to work with him one day. The materials are solid and well detailed, good craftsmanship and seems like it will hold up over time. The instructions are not the worlds best and for English they are on a separate USB drive. You get allen wrenches to construct with, but over all if you know an engine it’s extremely easy. Took about four hours at a leisurely pace.
I am very happy with the engine! Arrived exactly as described with everything required to run the engine. I was quite impressed with the machining work and the overall quality of the engine as well as the heavy metal base. The engine runs great on the 15% nitro fuel I had. A lot of fun to run and makes a great display piece!
At this time, The engine look well done. I did not run the engine much because I spent a lot of time to make a real nice test bench as well as personalized exhaust headers and mufflers. Currently the engine is running in and the carburetor adjustment is very rich in order to ensure good lubrication to the internal parts. Despite this, the engine runs well and is very smooth running. On the whole I am very satisfied with this engine, but it is in the longer term that I will see if this engine is really reliable and durable.
Handle fell off the unit and the base/stand had a crack in it, otherwise functional unit.
Hi, it's a very nice rc engine.
The test run will only take about in 2 weeks and I'm really looking forward to it. The service from enginediy is perfect, thanks!
This is my fourth sterling engine it arrived well ahead of schedule meticulously package and ran without any issues right out of the box. In the four transactions I've had with this company I find them to be 100% reliable. As they are out of hit and miss engines I am told a new shipment will be arriving before long and awaiting their notification advising when I can place the order. Not only is it fun to watch these engines run, it's also fun, unpacking them. Irv
Since my 1 star review was filtered out, here is a 5 star review. I ordered December 10th as a Christmas gift, but did not receive it until January 4th (almost 4 WEEKS). When I opened the box, it was broken and I cannot fix it myself. I threw it in the garbage.
This little engine really lit up the eyes of my 13 year old grandson. We watched it run for a long time.....amazing. I would give it 5 stars, but the little generator that was to run the led bulb had a off center pulley. Maybe they will replace it.
Overall it’s awesome!! I wish the wooden plaque had a name plate which would just add one more level of awesomeness to the display. The butane holder fell off but was easy to put back in the holder. I found mine didn’t work out of the box. It seemed like not enough fuel was getting to the burner. After sometime I figured out that you can ADJUST THE FUEL FLOW by turning the little screw on the back of the butane tank... this made the flame stronger and a little engine that could.... did. Love it
Considering I’m in France, the delivery was rapid After an efficient ordering process.
The product is clean and fine
The robot components look fine however the manual contained in the box is written in chinese only.
After few days I am sill waiting a reply from support hopefully for a link to an English manual.
Now I am writing this review because EngineDIY asked me a review before answer to my question. Well that's all I can say at the moment.
