What’s New with the TOYAN V8 and SEMTO ST-NF2 L2 Nitro Engine Upgraded Starter Kits?
If you’ve ever assembled a model engine for the first time, you probably know that getting the wiring right can be one of the trickiest parts.
With the previous starter kits, you had a wiring diagram—but it didn’t always answer the most basic question:
“Which wire in front of me goes where?”
Which one connects to the ignition module? Which one goes to the battery? And what if you accidentally connect the wrong wires?
We heard this feedback from our customers and passed it along to TOYAN. After listening to the community and making some improvements, we’re excited to introduce the upgraded starter kits and bases for the TOYAN V8 and SEMTO ST-NF2 L2 Nitro Engine.
The idea behind the upgrade is simple: make setup easier, especially for first-time builders.
So, What’s Different?
The previous starter kits came with wiring diagrams, but a diagram doesn’t always make it obvious which physical wire corresponds to which function.
For experienced builders, that may not be a big deal. But if this is your first model engine, it can leave you wondering:
Which connection is for the starter?
Where does the battery connect?
Which wire goes to the igniter?
Where should the fuel tank and other components be positioned?
With the upgraded design, we’ve made these details much easier to figure out.
Clear Labels Right on the Base
The upgraded base now has clearly marked connection points:
START · POWER · IGNITER
The locations for the fuel tank, battery, and wiring have also been laid out in advance.
So instead of trying to trace wires back and forth through a diagram, you can simply match the label to the corresponding connection and follow the instructions.
See the label. Match the connection. Follow the steps. Done.
It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference when you’re setting up your engine for the first time.

What About the Engine Base?
There’s another change we think longtime customers will appreciate.
In the past, we often received the same question:
“Why do I need a separate base for every engine?”
That’s a fair question.
Different engines may require different mounting dimensions, but the basic job of the base is the same: keep the engine securely mounted and provide a stable platform for operation.
If you owned multiple engines, buying a separate base for each one could quickly add up.
So we worked on making the bases more versatile.
One Base, Two Engines
For example, the same base can be used for both:
TOYAN FS-S100 / FS-L200
If you own both the TOYAN FS-S100 and FS-L200, you can use one compatible base for both engines.
The same applies to:
TOYAN V8 / TOYAN L4
One compatible base can be shared between the TOYAN V8 and TOYAN L4.
That means fewer accessories to buy, less clutter on your workbench, and a more flexible setup if you have more than one engine in your collection.
Built Around a Simpler Setup
The upgraded base brings everything together in a much more intuitive way.
You’ll find clear markings for:
START · POWER · IGNITER
There are also designated positions for the fuel tank, battery, and wiring, so you know where everything is supposed to go.
For beginners, this means less guesswork.
For experienced builders, it simply means a faster, cleaner setup.
Either way, the goal is the same: spend less time figuring out the connections and more time enjoying the engine.
Frequently Asked Questions
1.Do I need to replace my old starter kit or base?
Not at all. If your existing starter kit or base is working properly, you can continue using it as usual.
The upgrade is mainly for customers who want a simpler setup or find the previous wiring arrangement difficult to work with.
If you’re comfortable with your current setup, there’s no need to replace it.
2. How do I know if I’m getting the upgraded version?
All orders placed on or after August 18, 2026 will come with the upgraded version.
The previous version is no longer being sold.
Still not sure which version you’ll receive? Feel free to contact our customer service team at service@enginediy.com and we’ll be happy to check.
3. Does the upgraded starter kit cost more?
No. The upgraded starter kits for the SEMTO ST-NF2 L2 Nitro Engine and TOYAN V8 are priced at the same as or lower than the previous versions.
So you get a more user-friendly setup without paying extra for the upgrade.
A Small Upgrade That Makes a Big Difference
Building a model engine should be about the fun of putting the pieces together, learning how the engine works, and finally hearing it come to life—not spending hours wondering which wire goes where.
That’s what this upgrade is all about.
With clearer labeling, a more intuitive layout, and bases that can be shared between compatible engines, setting up your TOYAN V8, SEMTO ST-NF2 L2, or other compatible models is now easier and more straightforward.
Less guessing. Less hassle. More time building and running your engine.
That’s the experience we want every builder to have.
