In all, a nice kit, but not functionally accurate. Most turbofan engines are a 2 spool design, utilizing a low pressure compressor, driven by a number of low pressure turbine wheels. The second spool is a high pressure compressor driven by a high pressure turbine. On this model, the hpc is not present, and there are fewer stages in the lpc than on the real thing. I verified all this at the RR website.
If they had sold this as a generic turbofan...well, it still wouldn't run, but at least people would not think that this is a RR Trent. It's still cool, but the detail is lacking. I like the way the hot section lights up when its on, very cool. If you're buying this as an educational tool, buy one that is more accurate and detailed.
