HM-01 CDI Ignition Kit Update: New Battery Setup & Compatibility Guide

To make the HM-01 ignition system easier to use, we have updated the CDI ignition kit currently supplied with the HM-01 engine. This guide explains the difference between the new CDI ignition kit and the previous 2S lithium-battery version, so you can easily choose the correct battery setup.

New Customers: HM-01 + Ignition Kit

(For Orders Placed on or After October 9, 2026)

If you are purchasing the following products for the first time:

• HM-01 Engine — 3479357
• Ignition Kit — 3481144

The CDI ignition unit currently supplied from our local inventory is the new version.

What’s New?

The updated CDI ignition kit now comes with a battery holder, so you do not need to purchase an additional battery box or lithium battery. Simply install standard 1.5V AA batteries into the included battery holder.

Please note: AA batteries are not included and need to be purchased separately by the customer.

This new setup makes the ignition system easier to prepare and eliminates the need for a separate 2S lithium battery.

For Existing Customers With the Older CDI Version

If you previously purchased the older CDI ignition system designed for a 2S lithium battery, your existing CDI can still be used with the appropriate battery accessories.

For the older CDI version, you may purchase separately:

• Battery Holder — 33ED3710486
• Lithium Battery — 33ED3710485

Please make sure you identify which CDI version you have before purchasing additional battery accessories.

Wiring Reference

Please refer to the wiring diagram supplied with your HM-01 ignition system when connecting the CDI, Hall sensor, spark plug wire, battery, and ground wire. The key connections include:

• CDI
• Hall Sensor
• Spark Plug Wire
• Ground Wire
• Battery / Battery Holder

Always confirm that all connectors are securely connected before starting the engine.

Important Reminder

If you are ordering the HM-01 Engine (33ED3479357) together with the Ignition Kit (3481144) now, there is normally no need to purchase an additional battery holder or lithium battery. The current ignition kit already includes the new battery holder. You only need to prepare the required 1.5V AA batteries.
