Why HOWIN?
The HOWIN L4 Engine is a brand-new platform specially developed for RC models. It is the closest you will get to a real inline car engine in scale form for RC applications.

HOWIN L4 Engine:
The HOWIN L4-172 Engine is a miniature inline four cylinder four stroke engine model newly released by Team HOWIN ENGINE , which demonstrates a strong engine manufacturing spirit.
It is based on early real car engines that are widely used and designed with perfect style and appearance, recreating the elegance of full-size cars in scale models.
Delivers a sense of realism from inline four cylinders to camshafts and rocker arms, every effort has been made even the scale & appearance of the engine to maintain a high-level performance that can provide extraordinary power to RC cars/ ship models.
Classic & Creative Colors:
Mainly decorated in silver and black for a high-end atmosphere, the HOWIN L4 engine with an overall compact structure represents a collision of retro classics and modern machinery.
Single Overhead Camshaft:
Adopts SOHC valve mechanism, alloy rocker arms, independent intake/exhaust design and increasingly accurate valve opening/ closing.
Adjustable Valve & Single Carburetor:
Built with adjustable valve and single carburetor for easy adjustment and more sensitive throttle response.
Integrated Design:
Intake Pipe & Exhaust Pipe: printed by integrated metal stainless steel make the engine sounds deep and powerful like a racing car.
Crankshaft: The integrated & reinforced crankshaft with five points to fully support ensures that the crankshaft boasts sufficient strength and is not easy to deform under high-speed operation.
Long Lifespan:
Utilizes the external centrifugal water pump and the cooling mode of direct contact between the outer wall of wet cylinder liner and coolant for heat dissipation with water drainage to prolong the working time and lifespan.
Speed Up to 15000RPM:
Features smooth idle running and a high speed up to 15000rpm like a little violent beast, due to the 480 brush motor and convenient electrical starting.
CNC TECH:
All parts of the model are made of carefully selected material, among which the piston ring is made of nodular cast iron, and the cylinder block & crankcase of the cylinder head are processed by aluminum alloy CNC, as well as colored through anodic oxidation after sandblasting.
To maintain the steady output of the inline four-cylinder engine, the rocker arms, camshaft and crankshaft are precision machined for minimal tolerances.
What It Presents ?
With its true-to-life scale, reliable start and steady power, the high-performance engine will meet the expectations of many model aficionados, providing an impressive & authentic model for nostalgic enthusiasts and collectors.
Requirement for Fuel:
20-25% Nitro Finished Fuel Oil.
The gasoline modification kit to upgrade to use the gasoline fuel will be released later and you are able to buy at that time.

I LOVE this engine, it looks great, runs great and sounds awesome. It's not without little issues tho.
- My version is the Nitro one and during running I found that the motor would die if I disconnected the power to the glow plugs. This should not happen. I've tried different fuels and plugs but I think, even though the inlet manifold looks great, the flow of fuel to the cylinders through it isn't very efficient or balanced. Might work better with 4 carbs although that's a big change.
- I have a BIG radiator on mine but the motor does get very hot very quickly. Not a huge problem as I don't need my motor to do any real work.
- I found the inlet manifold carb throat wasn't machined, it was raw cast and it was allowing air to enter between the throat and the carb neck. I reamed it out myself and installed a slightly bigger carb.
I LOVE it
