Honestly I’m still trying to wrap my head around the quality of craftsmanship on this tiny, cute 68W alternator. I’m still waiting on my LS-V8 engine so I haven’t been able too test the alternator out. Once I get engine together I will test out the alternator and write another review. It’s pretty amazing
This was my first metal model and I enjoyed it. Much better than cutting out plastic parts and using glue. LOL. It took about 75 minutes to complete, The tools they provided worked just fine. All the parts were there, a few bags had extra parts (deliberate? accident?). I also bought the Spider but haven't put it together yet.
This eye-catching little Sterling Engine came fully assembled in a well-packed shipping container. Of all the more complicated Sterling Engines this one was, most certainly, the best value and is a fine example of the Beam-Engine system. At a length and height of six and a half inches it it small enough for a desk display but large enough to clearly appreciate all of its moving parts, in all respects. A good price, for good value.
Use Methanol/Mentholated Spirits for fuel: it burns cleanly and has no odor.
its a pretty tiny engine.
very well packaged,
no shipping damage.
runs right out of the box.
it starts mostly by flat strait hand rolling over the flywheels.
to clogg the carburetor for getting air out of the fuel pipe and fuel in ,
i made a little stick with a very soft rubber on it .( foto)
it works the same as you put a finger on the intake side of the carburator
a little help to get the air faster out of the fuelpipe :-)
This little press is a functional model and it's perfect for a shelf or desk. I love watching it operate, it's quite fast when you turn up the potentiometer. I would have loved assembling it however it came already assembled though that could be a plus if you are just interested in displaying it. I am happy with this purchase.
This HM02 Kit is just great, built very well and runs excellent, as soon as I saw this engine I wanted it, then I found the the Black Version, these engines are quiet and the best show piece a engineer could have, here are some pics of mine.
I originally ordered the silver version but was quickly told it was in production and the red was available and they shipped the next day, great communication. The fit and finish were great and went together smoothly. I would highly recommend this as an entry into the hobby. I plan on converting to gasoline soon.
I was hoping to illuminate sealed noble gas tubes with this product or a standard tesla coil for Spectral Emission demonstrations. This product was a qualified success.
This product worked silently with no visible electric arcs. It individually illuminated Neon and Helium tubes well, but did not illuminate Argon, Xenon or Krypton well enough to produce emission lines visible thru inexpensive spectral slides in a darkened room. I’d like to try it on CO2 and H. The unit got hot, but not enough to become an issue.
For anyone interested: Standard Tesla Coils (rated 10 and 20cm) illuminated all gasses well, but bright light from electric arcs and arc noise were too distracting to use as a classroom Spectral Emission demo. The bright arcs simply washed out any usable spectrum, and the noise was too loud to explain or discuss over.
Overall, for $40 this product worked well.
I have not got my engine yet but the base and the two tanks look awesome. Very high quality.
For a beginner like me. This model was the perfect starter. The assembly and operating instructions are clear and easy to follow. There are also plenty of YouTube videos out there for additional help. I love this steam engine and plan to build more in the future.
Although it is not finished, the build so far is flawless. No fitting issues at all and very, very clear instructions!
For everyone with interest in engineering, this is a must have model!
Ordering and delivery were outstanding!
Zero plain have great packaging, well detailed instructions and tools, all parts fits perfectly, could not be more satisfied.
I have bought other scorpions from other sites that are nice but instructions and some screws and bolt were shady.
The Zero plain is the gold and black and i have put another one bought on Alibaba with less detailes or preicsed parts, they look similar but i have put a closer picture on the dart, Black and gold is way more solid and detailed than the silver one thus the difference in price
Here are the instructions that was provided that didn’t show how to correctly plug the battery pack into the board. So then they said it was my fault that the board and motor got fried and that I should replace both at MY cost. Oh and also when I started to contact them about their horrible instructions they went on a “Spring Festival Break” which was very convenient. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your money on this horrible company. Also this is time 2 of trying to post the review so others don’t get scammed as I have.
Conditionnement: OK
Suivi: OK
I haven't started it yet but packaging is perfect, instruction book is very complete, all parts are well separated and clearly marked but like the picture shows, i'm doing another one (Black and gold scoprion )before the Big dude but i have no doubt it's going to be a very solid piece. Same brand and everything fits together.
I ordered this Sempto engine but one logoed Otto showed up instead. I had orderrd the Sempto because another vendor was not very good at communicstions of a poorly handled shipping issue. But, I was onformed in a timely manner that my engine was out of stock but would be available in about 30 days. Cair enough. I REALLY appreciated that communique as the other vender I spoke of I bieve ran out of inventory and never shipped. Can not prove it but was given no clear reason to not think that is what happened. Anyway, I am pleased all around about EngineDIY's handling of this problem and will very likely order from them again. NOT that "other" place. (If you know, you know). This package came extremely well packed and was wtapped such that it appeared very water proofed with packing tape and bubble wrap. Which I was glad of. I ordered earlier the petrol conversion setup and the metal base package. I am anxious to get this one going.
It was a change of pace for me building an animal, I loved the intricate design of the gears and linkages, it kind of reminded me of clock making.
Every component of this kit exhibits world class manufacture using the best materials but the instructions leave out critical information for the best possible outcome for the kit builder. The full color pictures in the manual are worth a thousand words but a few more words would help the builder avoid several common mistakes that even the "experts" make in their on-line videos. The correct position of the counter weights on the flywheels in relationship to the crankshaft is critical to get the engine to operate as smoothly as it is designed to run. The recent addition of drilled and tapped jack screw holes on the brass axel locks now allow the fywheels to be removed or their position adjusted after being tightened and is not even mentioned in the instructions. These can be a lifesaver. Other tips like usiing the 5/16" end of a multibit screw driver to install the sparkplug would be helpful. The holes in my wood skid were not drilled correctly and had to be filled and redrilled to match the 4 holes in the cast iron engine base. The hole in the engine casting for the valve rocker push rod was not perfectly aligned and it was binding the rod enough to cause it to stick in operation. Light reaming of the hole corrected the problem. Over-all this kit has been a pleasure to build and a beautiful and excellent running model and I give it my highest praise. Watch the available videos before starting your build...they were extremely helpful. One star off for the manual falling a little short of what it could be.
I will give it a 4.5 stars. It’s a cool little engine! I like others have had issues with the side covers leaking oil, so I made gaskets. It helped, but with only one tiny center bolt to hold the covers on, it didn’t stop it completely. Really not a big deal now. Overall though I’m very impressed with the craftsmanship & attention to the mechanical detail on this engine! I really like it! I included a pic of it along with my balltop I really enjoy also. I’ve got more coming, so I’ll post more reviews.
Well even though my engine hasn't arrived yet I am gathering all the things I will need for the build. This switch module is a very well constructed part and was the second thing to arrive after the base and cradle.
I loved putting this little steam engine together and watching it run.
Instructions are very well done and simple.
All of the parts are of very good quality.
I look forward to buying more of these engines and would recommend this company to anybody.
