Just a little short of magic...

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my grandson (11 years old) who shares my tech-geek genes. Had it shipped to my house first so I could play with it a while before sending it on to him. Loved it and hated to part with it. The Rugrat appears to like it as much as I did.

Levitating Solar Motor

1) OnLineShopping: I received the item within the promised delivery date (altough i live in Switzerland); the packaging was excellent - nothing was broken nor damaged by scratches or otherwise.
2) As a technical demonstration of a phsical principle, it is constructed excuisitely.
3) Cotrary to the text, it actually requires quite bright sunlight to actually work.

The stand and rotor are well made. The levitation is easy to set up and works well. In strong sunlight the rotor spins. The first time it started to rotate on its own, since then it requires a starting spin. For an assembly of parts (solar panels and wires, …) the rotor is not badly balanced. However, when rotating, it does wobble quite a bit. In spite of that, the levitation is secure enough that the rotor stays in place and happily spins
