Great little model

I bought this model for my son for Christmas as he is interested in mechanical things. It arrived quickly and was very well packed. The model is well made and only needs a syringe and liquid fuel to get it running. It demonstrates Hero's design very effectively and makes a great Christmas present that will last years.

Buying this engine was one of my childhood dreams and it finally came true. The parcel took one month to arrive from the source and the packaging was immaculate, with foam padding.

The engine is very simple to operate and the best performance is achieved by using unadulterated ethanol as fuel. The bearing has no obstructions and the engine rotates freely. Although not required, I would have appreciated if there was a dropper added with the package so that one may fill the rotating boiler as the hole is very narrow.

The engine makes a great educational toy if handled carefully.

A little help would go a long way

My grandson loved this little "steam engine", but I (grandma) would have loved if it had included a syringe, and advice as to what to use as fuel. We began by using isopropyl alcohol 91% and it smoked a lot, hiding the beautiful gold color. Could one portion of fuel have been included with the model and instructions as to where to get more? Is denatured 100% ethanol a better choice? Also I am not sure whether it is necessary to use distilled water to prevent the nozzles from becoming blocked. So far so good, (we have been using tap water) but if they become blocked over time will we have to unclog them, or will the pressure blow them out, or is there a danger that the water container explodes? These are questions that my grandson asked, and I am not sure that my answers are correct.
